Thompson-Lagarde Board. The U. During the course of WWI, the Luger became a popular souvenir for Allied troops; thousands were taken home by soldiers from Britain and America. The Luger did not see much use in World War II; it was expensive to produce due to its complicated design.
The P38 used less steel, decreasing its manufacturing cost. The Luger was still used by many German troops during this time, however. Replicas of the Luger pistol are still produced today. It is notable in firearms history for being the pistol for which the 9mm Parabellum cartridge was originally developed, though the Luger pistol was first introduced with the 7.
The Luger pistol is a semi-automatic toggle lock pistol based on principles by Hiram Maxim that is fed by a removable magazine, and that operates on the short-recoil principle.
Designed by Georg Luger, it was an evolution of the earlier Hugo Borchardt design, the Borchardt C93 introduced in All Parabellums are recoil-operatedlocked breech, semi-automaticstriker fired handguns.
All Lugers feature a toggle locking system, consisting of two tilting-up bars and short moving barrel. Some early Lugers featured automatic grip safety at the rear side of the grip.
All Lugers also featured frame-mounted manual safety at the left side of the gun. Lugers were manufactured with different barrel lengths - standard German army Pistole 08 Luger M had mm barrels; Navy models featured mm 6 in barrels, and Artillery models featured mm 8 in barrels.
Commercial models were manufactured with barrels ranging from 98mm up to mm 14 insome in 'carbine' versions, with additional forward handguard and detachable buttstock. All Lugers were very ergonomic and accurate pistols, especially for the period those were developed in.
However, all Lugers were too sensitive to fouling and to loose manufacturing tolerances, as well as being too expensive when compared to more modern designs, such as the Browning Hi-Power or the Walther P Sign In Don't have an account?

While not obtainable in singleplayer, the P08 is seen being used by Weber in cutscenes of the Nordlys War Story. In multiplayer the P08 Pistol is available as a sidearm for all classes, and is the third to be unlocked. The P08 is comparable to the P38 Pistol as the two weapons share identical damage models, magazine capacities and rate of fire - as such, the weapon is a four body shot kill out to 22m.
However, the P08 distinguishes itself with slightly higher per-shot recoil in exchange for increased muzzle velocity, which is tied with the Repetierpistol M for highest in the secondary category.
It also has the quickest partial reload in class at 1. P08 Carbine Edit "Based on the P08 Pistol, this carbine variant has a stock, extended barrel and snail magazine offering improved range performance.
It was unlocked upon completion of the Week 7 challenges, and is now available for purchase through The Company. The weapon is the first Pistol Carbine to be added to the game.
The P08 Carbine shares many characteristics with its category counterpart, the Trench Carbinesuch as rate of fire and damage out to medium range. The weapon is capable of a four body shot kill out to 10m, and five out to 20m, being an eight shot kill maximum. In spite of some minor statistical differences, the P08 Carbine's rate of fire, controllability and damage permits effective use at both close and medium range, outperforming SMGs at the latter distance by way of slower damage drop-off.
The P08 Carbine can make use of Specializations to further improve performance. Sign In Don't have an account? Start a Wiki. Do you like this video? Click here for gadgets and melee weapon featured in Battlefield V Click here for weapon attachments featured in Battlefield V. Categories :.

The pistol has been used in fictional works by many villainous characters over the past several decades because of its association with Nazi Germany. The Luger has a toggle-lock action that uses a jointed arm to lock, as opposed to the slide actions of many other semi-automatic pistols. The toggle strikes a cam built into the frame, causing the knee joint to hinge and the toggle and breech assembly to unlock.Affordable Combat Collectibles - Mauser C96 Broom Handle
The barrel strikes the frame and stops its rearward movement, but the toggle assembly continues moving, bending the knee joint, extracting the spent casing from the chamber, and ejecting it. The toggle and breech assembly then travel forward under spring tension and the next round is loaded from the magazine into the chamber. The entire sequence occurs in a fraction of a second and contributes to the mud-resistance of the pistol. This mechanism works well for higher-pressure cartridges, but cartridges loaded to a lower pressure can cause the pistol to malfunction because they do not generate enough recoil to work the action fully.
This results in the breech block either not clearing the top cartridge of the magazine or becoming jammed open on the cartridge's base. Submachine guns were found to be effective in trench warfare during World War I, and experiments were conducted to convert various types of pistols to fully automatic machine pistols, including the P The Luger proved to have an excessive rate of fire in full-automatic mode, however, as did the Mauser C Luger pistols were manufactured in Germany and Switzerland to very close tolerances and exacting standards using the highest quality materials of the day, and original pistols were known for having a long service life.
Assembling the gun using a sideplate from another pistol, for example, may prevent the sear from working, making the pistol inoperable. The Luger barrel, which was rigidly fixed to the barrel extension and carried the front sight, provided excellent accuracy. A number of countries purchased the Model Parabellum in 7. Board of Ordnance purchased 1, Model Parabellum pistols with 4. Army for field testing, with the remainder to the light artillery and officers at West Point.
