Tell us about your experience with our site. FrankCalabro Created on January 3, Hello, I have two computers hooked up to the internet off the same wired router. The first one is an old basic one with windows xp home 32 bit and it has a download speed of 5 mbps with an upload speed of 3 mbps.
My new computer has a slow downloading speed, it has windows 7 64bit ultimate, a 3. However, this new gaming computer I built has a download speed between 0. I am okay with the upload speed, but over the last month this download speed has been getting slower and slower.
At first I thought it was my modem or router, until I checked the download speed on my other computer which is hooked to the same router. I even tried using the ethernet cable on my fast old computer to my new computer, both cables are fine, that isn't the problem either.
The problem must lie on my new computer, and I think I have some program limiting my internet download speed and I have no idea what it is.
Other things to note: I have avg internet security, advanced system care 6, and MalwareBytes on both computers full versions of everything. Thinking one of those caused me to have slow download speed I uninstalled all those programs, turned off my windows firewall, and restarted my computer, I then made sure windows firewall was still turned off and went to www.
So I installed advanced system care 6, malwarebytes and this time I installed BitDefender I got rid of all my addons that both internet explorer and google chrome had but it didn't help.
However, in the program after something downloads, I disable the file so it can not seed.
Is it possible that it is secretly seeding in some way and using up my bandwidth? At update. With malwarebytes, avg I had, and bitdefender I currently have, after full pc scans, I have no viruses, no malware, a clean registry, it seems to look good.
I have reset my internet settings, I just don't know what else to do. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. Cable speeds vary, but 4 to 12 Mbps are common. Why are megabits per second important? The bit rate plays an important part in the quality of movies and videos. As download rates approach 5 Mbps, you will experience fewer pauses while your HD video streams. During peak Internet times, your speeds may slow down. The same slowdown may occur when you upload transfer or download large files, stream music and more. Bizarre really as you would expect uploads to slow down too if it was network congestion. I just got 2. Why after all this time I'm still putting up with this.
Surely this should be the other way round? I've attached a SpeedTest screenshot showing the speeds. It should settle, but it's expected to take up to a year to get a stable speed.
If not please do one from roughly the same place as the 4g test and let us know the results. Faster download than 4G Annoying, but willing to give it time based on what the tutor said. Waiting a whole year for it the sort itself out though is in my opinion far too long to wait. Hopefully we all see a resolution well before this time next year. I'm getting the same issue.
V odd. So something is not right with GiffGaff. Yet I'm in the same locality as I was yesterday. Funny, as I was just typing this, it's swapped to 4G now When I went to my phone earlier, it had no internet connection only the signal strength. For some reason my 4g is getting only 0. Reply Loading Avoid queuing up and never worry about late fees again. Setup direct debit.I struggled with this issue for a while and decided to write down my findings in a blog post in case I, or anyone else, runs into this in the future.
I noticed that on all my devices - a Macbook Pro, iPhone, Windows desktop - webpages were sometimes taking a long time to load; it was a bit intermittent, but everything from google maps to gmail suddenly got very sluggish. I have one of their higher tier Internet plans from Comcast, so this was pretty disappointing.
In fact, I had to re-run the test several times, as occasionally, the upload portion of the test would get stuck and never complete. I tried rebooting the router, the cable modem, tweaking a bunch of settings, but nothing helped. I also checked with Comcast to ensure there were no issues our outages in my area, and of course, everything was fine.
Finally, I stumbled upon the solution: a firmware upgrade. The notes for version 2. I figured it was worth a shot, downloaded the 2. I hope you found the post helpful. If your router has a different firmware upgrade process, leave a comment with the steps you followed so others can find it.

I have now been at my new property for 8 weeks and I am unable to get a fast download speed. Given the upload speed I would assume I should get a better download speed as the signal quality is obviously not that bad. Is there a known problem or throttling in my area? It can't be due to high usage as the results are similar if I test at any time of day or night into the early hours of the morning.

As you can see my download is fast but my upload is almost 0 on LTE it sometimes goes up to 0. I've tried everything I can think of.
I've contacted support, manually input the APN, tried the SIM card in a different phone, I tried it in multiple locations in Montreal and the north shore of Montreal, restarted my phone's factory defaults, contacted support again. Nothing does it.
With such slow up speeds, some online services don't work at all. I can't load most webpages, I can't upload pictures, I can't get traffic data on my phone to use it as a GPS. In my previous thread, Allison W.
As for the bands, it's a Samsung Galaxy S7 which should be compatible. Allison get good point. Try to use this sim in different phone and try again. Redo APN setting again:.
APN: mobile. Yes 0. It doesn't work in 3G at all? An S7 shouldn't have any problems on videotron's network. Either there's something wrong with the way your account was activated, something wrong with the SIM, or something wrong with your phone. You should have data when your phone is set to use 3G, and you should have measurable up and download speeds when on LTE.
With 3G it's completely unable to connect to anything, I tried with my Nexus 4 which only does 3G and I was surprised to find out that in that phone it doesn't work whatsoever.
Got fast download but slow upload speeds? Here's a fix.
I switched the mode to 3G in the settings as per Allison's recommendation and when I do that, it doesn't connect to anything, same as with the Nexus 4. I suspect there's something wrong with the sim or on videotron's end because both of my Nexus 4 and my S7 have previously worked with 3G and LTE respectively. As for the APN settings, I have tried to input those manually on two separate occasions and even had Fizz customer support look them over and it was fine.
So something is not working correctly here. So since you've ruled out a problem with the phone, it's down to the SIM or the account set up. Dealing the Fizz customer service is going to be your next challenge then.
I get 0 Mbps for upload as well, though it usually jumps up to about 1 Mbps by the end of the test. I don't have any trouble sending mms messages, however. The issues may be related for you but they are clearly not necessarily caused by the same problem New information, what a strange thing My brother happened to swing by and I tried my sim in his phone LTE, unlike the Nexus4 and it worked perfectly fine in his phone I'm stumped.
Going to try a full reset of my phone but wow. I have a s7 rooted at home, we can do a test on Friday if you want, otherwise I can't until few weeks.
Also, take a picture with your phone and let us know how long it takes to upload it to imgur should be under 1 min if lte is ok. I didn't manually try to select other servers but it tried three different ones on its own. As for getting to imgur, it doesn't want to go there. I can't get onto Imgur with LTE. I might help you if you are from montreal and available tomorrow between 11 and 16h.
Send me a pm if interested. Thanks a lot for the offer, I'm from Terrebonne and not really able to travel to Montreal for the next little while.
